Lorisa & Sean invited me out to their Indian Head area farm in early September to celebrate their engagement with a session in their favorite place. As we wandered across the land - once owned by Lorisa's grandparents, through the private quad trails, and back to the yard, I learned of how the couple met and what drew them together. Sean laughed as he explained that it was Lorisa's dog, Athena who initially caught his attention and her lovely owner shortly after. Athena looked on throughout the session, pleased at having two humans to love.
Lorisa talked lovingly of her grandparents and expressed her appreciation for the land that once provided for them. I was impressed by Sean's love of this place and pride in Lorisa's grandparents. It's not very common to find a couple who, without hindrance, accepts each other's family, home, heritage as their own. It was so easy to see why this place was so special to both of them, and why it would be the place of celebration when their wedding day arrives.
Above all, I was impressed by their relationship. They are partners, team mates who will stand beside one another for the rest of their days. I loved their perspective; that they would be there to tackle life together. There was no division, just partnership.
Their June wedding cannot come fast enough; Lorisa & Sean were a dream to photograph and I cannot wait to do so again on their big day!
